Getting Started
Invite the Bot
To get started, you should invite the Benzy Security Discord bot to your Discord server.
Once invited and in your Discord, ensure that you move the Benzy Security role to the very top of your Discord role hierarchy, below the role that ownership of the community have. This ensures that it has the permissions needed to conduct moderation and assign roles, as it can not perform moderation actions on those with roles higher than it for security purposes.
Setting Slash Command Permissions for Users
Ensure that this step is followed carefully in order to prevent unauthorized users from having restricted access.
You do not have to worry about setting the moderation/disciplinary commands permissions in your Discord subservers, as the bot is made to prevent them from being used anywhere other than your main Discord server.
In order to set which group(s) of people have access to certain commands, and to set what channels certain commands can be run in, you will have to go into your Discord server settings, got to Integrations, and then select Benzy Security. Here, you can set what roles can use certain commands, what roles have access to all commands, what channels certain commands can be run, etc. The reason for conducting the permissions this way is to allow maximum flexibility in deciding exactly who can do what and where.
Moderation/Disciplinary commands can only be conducted with in the main Discord of the community. This is to ensure that, if you have other people with Administrator permissions in your subservers, they will not be able to override permissions that you set in the main Discord. Certain commands, such as /whois, /remindme, and /temprole can be conducted within all Discord servers of a community by default. If you wish to change this, you can go into the subservers and similarly go into the Discord server settings, got to Integrations, and select Benzy Security to select who can use those commands, similar to how you did it in the main Discord.
Run Setup
The next step is to use the /setup command (can only be done by the owner of the Discord). This command should only be run in the Discord you wish to have as your MAIN server for your community. This command will indicate to the bot that this will be your main Discord server for your community. All other Discord servers you add to your community will be added as subservers.
If successful, you will receive a message reply that that your Discord has successfully been setup and to head to the dashboard to finish setting up your community.
Community Settings in Web Dashboard
After you receive the successful setup completion message, you can head to the Benzy Security Web Dashboard at https://dashboard.benzy.lol to adjust settings for your community such as the invite exempt roles, the community name and abbreviation that'll show in the Direct Messages (DMs) that get sent to users when they receive a moderation action, the ban appeal link that'll automatically get DM'd to them if they get banned, the blacklisted URLs, among other settings, view logs, and find your one-time-use code to add subservers to your community.
Adding Subservers
If you have multiple Discord servers for your community, you need to ensure that you add the subservers to your Benzy Security community in order to allow moderation, logging, and features to be allowed across the entire community, all from one web dashboard.
You must be the owner of the Discord you wish to turn into a subserver to set it up as such, while you do not have to be the owner of the main Discord, you will need to contact them for the subserver code. First, you should invite the Benzy Security Discord bot to your Discord server. You should then go into the Benzy Security Web Dashboard and go into the Setting menu. At the top will be a one-time-use code that you will need (if you are not the owner of the main Discord, you will have to ask them to gather the code for you). From here, you will use the /addsubserver [code] command to add the subserver to your community, pasting in the code as the parameter. If it was successful, you will receive a message saying that it was successfully added to the community. The one-time-use code will automatically regenerate so that the code cannot be used a second time, in order to protect the security of your community.
Removing a Subserver
You will lose all logs that were generated from the subserver if you remove it from your community. This cannot be undone.
In order to remove a subserver from your community, simply kick the bot from the susbserver Discord. It will automatically remove itself from your community, as well as any logs that were generated from within that Discord server. If you wish to add it back to your community, you would need to go through the adding subservers process again.
Removing a Community
You will lose all settings, logs, and customization of your community. This cannot be undone.
If you wish the remove your entire community, simply kick the bot from the main Discord of your community. All settings, logs, and moderation will immediately be deleted and stop working across your community. If you wish to make your community again, you will have to start over from the beginning with inviting the bot. All of your settings will have to be redone.
